A Quick Intro to Brazil

Covering an area of 8.5 million square kilometers (3,300,000 sq mi), Brazil is the largest country in South America and the only one where Portuguese as the official language.

With so many cities and places to visit, planning a trip here can be difficult. You’d need months to explore the country properly, but if you only have 2 or 3 weeks, you’ll need to be selective in where you choose to go.

The cosmopolitan cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo should definitely be on your itinerary. Rio is famous for its Christ the Redeemer Statue, Sugarloaf Mountain and beaches such as Ipanema and Copacabana Beach. Sao Paulo is known for its skyscrapers, gastronomic scene and nightlife.

Iguassu Falls is also a must-see in Brazil – this series of waterfalls lies on the border of Argentina and Brazil and is an impressive sight to behold. You may also want to tag on some time in the Amazon jungle, which is the world’s largest rainforest. Manaus offers the easiest access to the rainforest and you can find a number of day trips or multi-day trips that start here.
