Poland Travel Guide
A Quick Intro to Poland
If you’re looking for a cheap country to visit in Europe, Poland fits the bill. Not only is Poland served by budget airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air, the country is also just mega cheap to visit once you’re there. A domestic beer costs around 10 zloty, which is roughly $2 USD.
The country has an image of being gloomy, grey and industrial, but if you look beyond the surface, it has a lot to offer.
Two of the most popular cities to visit in Poland are Warsaw and Krakow, both of which are fun for first time visitors. Warsaw is home to many museums and a colorful old town that was rebuilt after the Second World War. Meanwhile Krakow is known for its nightlife and impressive market square.
I’ve also paid visits to Lodz and Wroclaw, both of which I really enjoyed. Wroclaw is known for its gnome sculptures that are scattered all over the city, while Lodz is famous for its colorful murals and street art.
If you like skiing or snowboarding then you could also plan a winter vacation to Zakopane, Poland’s winter capital in the Tatra mountains. Zakopane is home to lots of adorable wooden chalets and in spring the fields are dotted with blooming purple crocuses.
While you’re in Poland don’t miss the chance to try various Polish foods, including pierogis, cabbage rolls and potato pancakes. This is of course often washed down with copious amounts of vodka – don’t be surprised if the locals insist on doing shots until the bottle is empty!
