Jase Medical Review: Emergency Antibiotics for Travel

Whenever I travel overseas I usually travel with some antibiotics in case of an emergency. If you suddenly get sick it can be a real pain to locate a doctor (not to mention costly) so it’s just easier to have them on hand so you can treat yourself instantly before things get worse.

In some countries the pharmacies will sell antibiotics over the counter but often they’ll require a prescription. Traipsing around visiting doctors or hospitals can end up eating into your vacation time so it’s much better to have antibiotics in your medical kit. This way you can pop a tablet as soon as the problem arises instead of waiting to see a doctor.

Often doctors have waiting lists so it’s not easy to be seen at a moment’s notice. And if there’s anything the COVID pandemic taught us; pharmacies and physicians offices can sometimes be overwhelmed.

Since I’m prone to UTIs when it gets hot I always carry an antibiotic like trimethoprim or nitrofurantoin plus an antibiotic for things like skin infections. There are many ailments that might require an antibiotic, including traveler’s diarrhea, animal bites, wounds and tooth infections. While your immune system may sometimes take care of infections on its own, sometimes your body needs some extra help.

Introducing Jase Case

Jase Medical provides a way for people to have an immediate on-hand supply of life saving medicines and provides instructions for their use.

The Jase Case contains a supply of 5 broad spectrum emergency antibiotics dispensed by licensed pharmacies, shipped directly to your home. The antibiotics cover a range of diseases and illnesses including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, Lyme disease, STDs, animal bites and malaria.

Inside the kit you’ll find:

  • Metronidazole 500 mg tablets (30 tablets)
  • Doxycycline 100 mg capsules (120 capsules)
  • Ciprofloxacin 500 mg tablets (28 tablets)
  • Azithromycin 250 mg tablets (6 tablets)
  • Amoxicillin-clavulanate 875 mg tablets (28 tablets)

The case also comes with an Emergency Antibiotic Guide written by board-certified physicians with information about how to use them.

How to Get the Jase Case

Jase Case is available to residents of the US (all 50 states) and Canada. The cost is $259.95 USD for US patients and $435.95 CAD for Canadian patients.

It’s not cheap, but it does include the cost of all the medicines and the cost of the virtual doctor’s appointment. And according to their pricing table, it’s cheaper than obtaining the same medicines from pharmacies such as Target and Walmart.

Jase’s service is backed by board certified physicians and you can feel assured knowing the kit contains FDA approved medicines from licensed pharmacies.

No worrying about buying medicines from dodgy online pharmacies or sketchy pharmacies abroad – the antibiotics are all safe to use and effective.

In order to obtain a supply of medication for emergency use, you’ll fill out an online form which will then be evaluated by a board-certified physician. There’s no doctor’s appointment or live virtual telehealth visit – just a simple online form that can be completed in less than 10 minutes.

You’ll need to provide a picture of a government issued ID to verify your identity. If approved, your medication will be sent directly to your home.

After ordering the kit, you’ll receive unlimited physician follow-up for any questions relating to the use of your Jase Case prescribed medication.

Things to Note

Jase medical review
  • Jase doesn’t accept insurance – you must pay for the full cost of the kit yourself using a debit or credit card.
  • The Jase Case is cheaper than paying for the same quantity of medicines privately through a physician or pharmacy, but if you have insurance, it would typically be cheaper to get them through your insurance.
  • You must have had a physical within the last two years to ensure that you have no medical conditions that may have gone undiagnosed.
  • You cannot cancel your order after it’s been placed and the company doesn’t offer refunds or returns.
  • Only ONE Emergency Antibiotic Pack is allowed per person per year.
  • The kit is shipped to your home and there isn’t an option to pick up from a local pharmacy at this time.
  • Since the kit is meant for emergencies, you probably won’t be using the antibiotics for a while. Most antibiotics will come with an expiration date between 2 and 3 years from the date of manufacture. However, you can extend the shelf life of medications by keeping them in air-tight containers in a cool, dry environment.

A Final Word…

The Jase Case is incredibly useful if you need a stash of broad spectrum antibiotics on hand to treat a wide variety of ailments and infections. It can be especially useful for travel, since that’s typically when you’re more likely to have accidents or contract certain diseases. It’s also useful in times of disaster, when hospitals and doctor’s offices may be overwhelmed. You never know when you’re going to get caught up in a hurricane, tornado, war or another pandemic!

The only downside I can see of this kit is that there’s currently no a la carte option, so you can’t just buy one or two antibiotics – you have to purchase all five. Doxycycline is the most expensive antibiotic in the kit and there’s no option to leave that one out.

That being said, the kit is meant to prepare you to treat any infection that may present itself, which is why you receive five. If you have an allergy to a specific medication, the physician will substitute it for another antibiotic.

As someone who travels a lot there have been multiple times where I’ve needed antibiotics on the road and it’s definitely a huge life saver to have a medical kit on hand so that your trip doesn’t end up interrupted. Jase is a great option if you’re living in the US or Canada and planning to go overseas on vacation or a longer trip.
