Top 7 Festivals to Attend in Europe This Summer

Summer is drawing closer and closer, so that means the festival season is about to begin! With over 400 worldwide events and counting, a trip around Europe sounds like an amazing way to spend your summer vacation. 

It’s never too early to start planning, so we’ve picked the 7 most fun festivals to attend in 2023, from smaller gatherings to large-scale events!

Primavera Sound

Primavera Sound

Primavera Sound in Barcelona marks the start of the festival season in Europe. Since 2001 the festival has turned the Parc del Forum into a week-long musical spectacle. In 2023 things are really heating up! Featuring headliners like Depeche Mode, Rosalía, Pet Shop Boys, and Kendrick Lamar.

In 2012, Primavera Sound expanded by adding an event the following weekend in the city of Porto, Portugal. With a staggering collection of indie rock talent, the recipe hasn’t changed. In between festivals, anything from guided tours in Lisbon to boast trips in Ibiza, a tour of Spain and Portugal is always a good idea! 

Roskilde

Roskilde, Denmark , 24 June – 2 July

Music festival

With more than 130,000 attendees each year, Roskilde is one of the biggest events in Europe and the biggest in the Nordic nations. Since 1971, it has taken place south of Roskilde City, Denmark and has attracted top acts, with music playing for a full week. This year’s top performers are Blur, Queens of the Stone Age, Lil Nas X, Rosalía, Burna Boy, and Christine and the Queens!

No list of European festivals would be complete without mentioning Glastonbury. It is one of the longest-standing music festivals in Europe, with the first festival being held back over 50 years ago.

With over 70 performers and across 100 stages and areas, this year’s lineup will feature Guns N’ Roses, Elton John, Arctic Monkey, Lizzo, and many, many more!

Sziget Festival

Tisno, Croatia, 31 August – 4 September
