Cambodia Travel Guide
A Quick Intro to Cambodia
I had absolutely zero expectations of Cambodia when i visited the country as I hadn’t really read much about it. However, it actually turned out to be one of my favorite countries in Southeast Asia.
Having just traveled through Vietnam, where I was hassled a lot, Cambodia was a welcome break. I found the people to be super friendly and I was blown away by the beautiful white sand beaches of Sihanoukville and Koh Rong Samloem. If you want to really get off the grid and relax, the Cambodian islands are the place to do just that.
While in Cambodia you can’t miss the cities of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Siem Reap is home to the ruins of Angkor Wat, which was the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th–15th centuries. This magnificent temple is the largest religious monument in the world and is best viewed around sunrise or sunset.
Cambodia is still living in the shadow of its dark past, which saw Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge killing millions of people in mass genocide between 1975 and 1979. It was truly horrific, and you can learn more about it by visiting the Killing Fields and the S-21 Prison, which are both located in Phnom Penh.
In this Cambodia travel guide you’ll find blog posts, itineraries, guides and essential info to assist you with planning your trip.
