31 Mar White Sand Beach in Padangbai, Bali
Nice, isn’t it? This beach is in the small fishing village of Padangbai on the East Coast of Bali.
Whilst I was living in Bali I visited Padangbai several times but never realised this beach existed until a friend took me to it. It’s not a ‘secret’ but it is cleverly hidden from view. Most people chill out in the warungs and restaurants close to the main beach, which is full of fishing boats, or they go to the Blue Lagoon beach over the hill on the left hand side.
As you arrive in Padangbai, White Sand Beach is to your right and a 15 minute walk up and over a hill. You can’t see it if you’re in the town, but you can catch a glimpse of it from the water if you take the ferry over to Lombok.
I was told it is called “white sand beach” but after googling it I have seen it reffered to as Bias Tegul, Pantai Kecil (small beach), White Sand Beach or Secret Beach.
The sand feels like talcum powder and squeaks beneath your feet. It is by far the whitest beach I have seen on the island and the water is lovely for swimming. The beaches vary a lot in Bali, but this was, to me, a heavenly paradise with turquoise water, and palm trees swaying in the breeze.
Everyone’s idea of a good beach is different, but when I found it I thought: “Now that’s a beach!”
