What I have learned about Airport parking

As an avid traveler, I spend quite a bit of time at the airport and have come to realize the value of airport parking. One of the things I try to achieve is stress-free parking, and that is why I will occasionally use companies like Parkos, to make the process easy for me.

As I go away on my worldly tours, I like the assurance that my vehicle will be safe without having to worry about expensive daily rates, or that someone will break into it.  So, I will share with you some of the things I have learned about parking at the airport, and maybe you can implement some of this in your next travel.

Use valet parking if you can

Despite our best intentions, sometimes time runs away, and you find yourself rushing to the airport, with only a few minutes to spare. It, therefore, makes it very convenient to take advantage of valet parking.

I also like the fact that if I make my bookings online, I get excellent discounts on the rates.

Consider your needs

Airport parking depends on what you as an individual likes.  I personally like long-term parking options because, if my trip extends a little past the set days, I do not have to worry about anyone towing my car away. Of course, there is the disadvantage that these are usually a bit far from the terminals, but,  most airports have shuttle services that take the stress out of the to and fro movement.

Early booking

I like to make my airport parking bookings a bit early because of the fantastic deals you can get.  You can snag yourself a significant discount if you book a month or two in advance.  It also means that I do not have to worry about price fluctuations that may occur after I have made my booking.  Here’s another tip you need to know, the more people take up the available parking spaces, the more expensive it will be for you if you want to park and pay on the same day.

Safety of the car

I would recommend that before you make a final decision on the airport parking, you do a site visit to confirm that your vehicle will be safe.  Look out for things like video monitoring, or security personnel who do a constant walkthrough.

Hotel parking

Some hotels will give you parking for even up to two weeks.  To avoid very early morning commutes, I will usually check into a hotel near the airport, and use a shuttle to get to the terminal.  However, do note that the hotel will only give you parking if you have taken a room for at least one night. I like such parking’s because they are quite secure, and I don’t have to worry about my car.

 Final thoughts

I like anything that makes my travel stress free.  If I know that I do not have to worry about my car because I made the right choice in my airport parking, it makes it very easy for me to enjoy my holiday.  Having my car at the airport when I return, eliminates the need for expensive cabs or long uncomfortable shuttle rides back home;  Best of all, I do not have to inconvenience anyone by asking them to pick me from the airport.
