Austria Travel Guide

A Quick Intro to Austria

Landlocked in central Europe in the eastern Alps, Austria has some truly stunning mountain scenery and is home to some of the best ski resorts in the world.

The country is bordered by a total of eight countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. It’s easy to reach by train from any of these countries and is a popular stop if you’re planning a rail trip through Europe.

Make sure you pay a visit to the country’s capital, Vienna, which is known as the “City of Music” having spawned many famous classical artists from Beethoven to Mozart. The city is home to some impressive palaces, pretty gardens and some of the world’s best museums.

Salzburg is another city that’s definitely worth visiting, especially if you’ve seen The Sound of Music. You’ll have the chance to explore many of the filming locations and wander around the very charming old town, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visit Austria in summer if you’re a fan of hiking and nature, or visit in winter if you want to hit the slopes for some skiing or snowboarding. Kitzbuhel, Saint Anton, Mayrhofen and Zermatt are some of the most popular resorts.

Hopefully this Austria travel guide will prove to be helpful when planning your trip!
