Turkey Travel Guide

A Quick Intro to Turkey

Sitting at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, Turkey is a diverse country with a fascinating history. The Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans have all left behind architectural legacies, including aqueducts, churches, mosques and palaces.

The city of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople) is an incredible city that you should allow at least 2 or 3 days for, or even more.

Visit the famous Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, stroll around the gardens of Topkapi Palace, haggle for souvenirs at the Grand Bazaar and soak up the views from the top of the Galata Tower. Make sure you experience a traditional hammam (steam bath) and try some baklava (sweet pastry) with Turkish coffee.

Besides Istanbul, there are lots of other lovely places to visit in Turkey. Riding in a hot air balloon over the dramatic landscape of Cappadocia is a bucket-list experience that many people dream of doing once in their lives.

The country also has some beautiful beaches and lots of resort towns to choose from, including Bodrum, Antalya, Marmaris, Oludeniz and Fethiye.

If you want to visit a place that has a rich history, tons of sights to see, interesting culture and some beautiful coastline, then Turkey fits the bill just perfectly.
