I just want to say a HUGE thank you to every reader of this blog who voted for me in the Cosmo Blog Awards 2013 sponsored by Next. I’m pleased to announce I was presented with the Highly Commended award in the Best Travel Blog category. You can check out the full list of winners in all the categories on the Cosmopolitan UK website.
This was the first year that there has been a Travel Blog category and I’m really honoured to have been given an award! The overall winner was my friend Jayne Gorman, who is author of the blog 40 Before 30. You can read her blog post about the awards party here.
The #CosmoBlogAwards party was held at OXO2 Tower on London’s Southbank and since Jayne and I have known each other for a while we decided to meet up at Southwark station before walking very slowly in our high heels to the venue!
We then hunted down our fellow nominees; Elle from The World And Then Some, Jess from The Travelista and Katie of An Unfamiliar Sky. (Unfortunately Isabelle couldn’t make it). We donned hats, wigs oversized sunglasses and crazy accessories to have fun photos taken in the photobooth provided by Photobooth Mania.
What we drank
The bar was sponsored by Pinky Vodka and naturally we drank Cosmopolitans! The goody bag also contained a little bottle of Pinky Vodka to take home…it tastes delicious!
Which brings me to a funny story…I flew to Dublin the next day for TBEX and left the bottle on the desk in my hotel room. While I was downstairs at the conference, my friends Rob and Brendan went up to the room to freshen up. Brendan thought the Pinky vodka was perfume and said to Rob, ‘I’m sorry but i’ll have to borrow some girl’s perfume’. Little did he realise it was vodka he was splashing on his neck!
What we ate
We nibbled on yummy canapés and cupcakes provided by Two Little Cats Bakery.
Pampering at the #CosmoBlogAwards
I had my first ever set of false eyelashes applied by the lovely ladies at The Vintage Cosmetic Company. I was so happy with the results and will definitely be wearing false eyelashes again! The eyelashes in this photo are their Betty Lashes.
Just before the party I made a slapdash effort to paint my nails and they were looking disastrous, so I let the folks from MW Nails take care of my cuticles with a luxurious manicure.
What was in the goody bag?
A few people have asked me what was inside the goody bag, so here’s the full list! Believe me it was so heavy I could barely carry it home!
