Announcement: My A-Z Challenge of Barbados!

I’m really, really excited to announce I’ll be heading to Barbados this week! Having spent the last few months in chilly England, I’m looking forward to packing my bikini and heading somewhere nice and tropical. I’ve never been to Barbados before, but it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go and it sounds like my kind of place. I really can’t think of a better way to kick-off 2014.

This isn’t any old trip though, the folks over at Travel Supermarket have set me a challenge and well…I love a good challenge. The task is to compile an A-Z of the island in 5 days; it could be anything including landmarks, people, food, drink, restaurants etc.

Now, 26 is a LOT of letters so I’m going to be a busy bee

Barbados Beach

Turquoise blue waters?! Looks horrendous ūüėČ

I will be gallivanting around the island searching for something to represent each letter of the alphabet, then blogging about it daily. I’ll also be taking photos and videos and sharing my experiences on¬†Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube. If you want to follow along, I’ll be using the hash tag¬†#AtoZofBarbados

All that work would be a lot to do by myself, so I will have a partner in crime on this trip- my best friend Elle.

What’s this all about then?

So what have Travel Supermarket got me doing? I will be flying from Manchester to Barbados on 5th January with the folks over at Thomas Cook Airlines. My hotel base during trip will be the Amaryllis Beach Resort and I will be renting a car to explore the island.

As for the A-Z, there are no rules and they can be anything I like, so I have been doing a bit of research and preparation to make sure I get all 26 letters. The choice won’t be ENTIRELY down to me though. You, dear readers, get to choose some of my activities…(be nice!)

The letters E, J, O, T and Y will be down to YOU!

Barbados Sunset

Looking forward to the Barbados sunsets!

I need your help

During the trip, @travelsupermkt¬†will be asking Twitter followers to recommend places to visit for 5 specific letters in the alphabet. I’ll also be asking for recommendations on my own account @pommietravels¬†and the hash tag will be #AtoZofBarbados.¬†

You’re in control of what I get up to!

So if there’s something you think I would enjoy, this is your chance to influence my trip.

These are the days I’ll be doing each one:

6th¬†January 2014 ‚ÄstE¬†

7th¬†January 2014 –¬†J

8th¬†January 2014 –¬†O

9th¬†January 2014 ‚ÄstT

10th¬†January 2014 –¬†Y

We will start asking for suggestions 24 hours before each of the dates above. At 3pm GMT (11am Barbados time) on the day, I will choose one of the suggestions and let you know via Twitter if I have picked your recommendation!

The whole trip will wrap up on the 12th January and I’ll be jetting back to Manchester with Thomas Cook Airlines. It’s going to be an action-packed adventure and I can’t wait to discover what Barbados has to offer.

Have you been to Barbados? Do you have some suggestions for me? Leave your comments below!

Victoria Brewood

Hi I'm Victoria, a British girl from Manchester. After graduating from university I decided there was more to life than the hours between 9 and 5, so I packed my journalism degree into my suitcase to travel the world and find a way to make money at the same time. I now call London home, although I still travel whenever I can. I hope to inspire you to be your own boss, live life and see the world.

I love that you choose Barbados know as Isle of paradise – Little England. You will find the Island has some European cultures. The people are very friendly mostly. The water is enchanting the sand is beautiful. The food to die for.

O – eat some seafood and get in some dancing at night at OISTINS FISH MARKET-CHRIST CHURCH

Take a ride to The Crane – St Philip for breakfast and of course Sandy Lane- St James

    The Submarine

    The Cave

    Cove Bay

    East Coast

    Hilton Hotel

    Sunsets – Unbelievable
