A Visit to Napa Valley: The Ultimate Must-do Guide

Noted for its unique climate and amazing scenery, Napa Valley is known as one of the most beautiful places in all of California, and maybe in the entire United States. Surrounded by mountains on all sides and protected from Pacific winds, the valley is an ideal location for viticulture in the world. Its fine wines are in high demand in the US as well as abroad. A lot of tourists arrive to Napa Valley at all times of the year to take advantage of the excellent California weather and to spend some time in serene surroundings, which has created a strong demand for recreational activities.

While many people believe Napa Valley to be rural country completely covered in vineyards, this is not entirely true, as there are many exciting activities you can engage in while you’re visiting this part of the United States.

A balloon ride. The best way to see the entire Napa Valley at a glance is to rise above it in a hot air balloon. There are a few companies offering this type of service, so it shouldn’t be hard to find a good offer scheduled at a time that suits you. The ride in a balloon is slow and allows you enough time to soak in the views and make some stunning aerial photos of the valley. Of course, you’ll need good weather for a balloon ride to be comfortable, which is why this activity isn’t recommended unless the skies are perfectly clear.

A wine-tasting tour. You can’t arrive to the wine-making capital of the US and fail to taste the wines! There are numerous Napa Valley wine tours to choose from, and you owe it to yourself to spend a day sipping some of the finest wines on Earth and nibbling on select meats and cheeses from a charcuterie board. You don’t have to know a whole lot about wine to enjoy a wine tour, as you will have professional assistance at every step of the way. In fact, you might end up learning a few things about enology (the study of wines) and develop a life-long appreciation of good wine.

A theatre show. A visit to the Uptown Theatre in the West End district can break the wine tour routine and put some energy back into your vacation. This historical venue has recently been restored to accentuate its unique art-deco style and is very tightly packed, so it will provide a suitable background for your adventure. The theatre regularly hosts comedy shows and popular musicians and is frequented by people of all ages and genders. If you like live entertainment and old-school design, Uptown Theatre should be on your must-see list.

A round of golf. Golf is a popular pastime in the Napa Valley, and when you look at the scenic vistas typical for this part of California, it’s not hard to understand why. There are several golf courses nestled among the vineyards, with mountains rising in the distance. Some of the best golf courses in Napa Valley cater to a select crowd, so you’ll be in good company as you chase your ball around the greens. Many people say that golf is the best way to relax and forget about work – and Napa Valley will give you a chance to test this theory in a very comfortable way.

A bike tour. For those of us who are in good physical shape, a bicycle might be the perfect mode of transportation across this wine country. On a bike, you can see the vineyards in a more intimate way and can stop to take photos whenever a particular landscape strikes you. It’s possible to join guided bike tours, where you can hear a bit about the history of this magical place while you’re pedaling across. Many visitors to Napa Valley take advantage of this opportunity to combine exercise and sightseeing, and their reactions are overwhelmingly positive. So perhaps you should try a bike tour during your visit!

I now call London home, although I still travel whenever I can. I hope to inspire you to be your own boss, live life and see the world.
