Intro to Costa Rica

Lush, green and tropical – Costa Rica is the perfect place to relax, unwind and get in touch with nature. Before you visit you should get familiar with the phrase pura vida, which translates as “simple life” or “pure life”. You’ll hear this motto everywhere you go and these two words pretty much sum up the Costa Rican way of life.

Costa Rica is the place to de-stress, lay on beautiful beaches, wake up to the sound of raindrops in the forest and forget all your worries.

There are all sorts of exciting things to do in Costa Rica, including coffee tours, ziplining, white water rafting, hot springs and cloud forests.

One of the most popular places to visit is Monteverde, where you can walk across hanging bridges to get a closer look at the rainforest canopy.

Nearby is the famous Arenal Volcano, which is a stunning stratovolcano that measures at least 1,633 metres high. For the best experience, book a night in a resort close to the volcano so you can wake up to the incredible view.

When planning your Costa Rica itinerary I’d also highly recommend including a visit to Tortuguero, where you can see turtles laying their eggs on the beach. It’s a magical experience and definitely worth it if you get the chance!

If you’re a beach person, Costa Rica has tons of great beaches too, including Jaco Beach, Cahuita and Tamarindo Beach.
