4 Ways to Travel the World Using Just a Bag

It may seem impossible but you can indeed travel the world and live out of just 1 carry-on sized bag. I can give you many reasons why this is a good idea. De-clutter the way you live and begin by changing the way you pack. You will not need those 3 extra pairs of jeans for a weeklong trip, nor will you need a ton of makeup that fits into 4 different makeup bags. I prefer walking around the airport with my hands free. I enjoy not having to worry if I leave my luggage at the hotel because I will carry the important things with me. Here are a few ways you can pack light, travel the world and still have fun!

  1. Back to Basics

We often do not realize, we pack so many unnecessary things that we think is a good idea but it’s really not. I like to pack just a few outfits that I match with each other before I pack them. It’s like making 8 outfits out of 4 articles of clothing. Take the basics; a pair of black jeans because black goes with everything, 1 shirt or dress for a night out, 1 or 2 shirts to wear every day, something comfortable for the night, 2 undergarments and a pair of good socks. Oh and a towel, if you’re not staying at a hotel that might give you one.

  1. How to Fold

Finally, it’s great that you’ve decided to travel using just 1 bag and made a final list of the things that you want to take. Now, there are tricks to folding your clothes because they take up the most space in your bag. There are so many different tutorials for different ways to fold when you’re trying to pack light but this one is my favorite. If you try out one of these carry-ons by Briggs and Riley, you wouldn’t have to worry about running out of space too quickly. These carry-on bags are made very well, better than a few I have tried. They have numerous pockets for easy access and staying organized.

  1. Tiny Travel Toiletries

Say that 3 times fast! If you haven’t already heard, travel sized toiletries exist! And they save up SO much space! From shampoos to soaps to toothpaste tubes, everything is downsized to fit into your jean pocket. Don’t actually put them in your jeans and then sit for an 8 hour flight. My point is that these tine bottles take up so little space that I live by them when traveling. The best part, you can get them literally everywhere! Almost all major brands make them. Even if your specific brand of shampoo doesn’t, you can still purchase empty bottles that are meant for travel and can be reused over and over again.

  1. Travel Apps

Now, while I know that this is not something you pack or can pack, they are still very helpful when trying to pack light. The normal booklets and maps you might take with you all now fit into your phone. Travel apps make life easier. They tell you the best places to eat and stay at. They tell you places you must visit and some even help you save money. I have tried and tested a few apps myself and made a list of the best travel apps.

Victoria Brewood

Hi I'm Victoria, a British girl from Manchester. After graduating from university I decided there was more to life than the hours between 9 and 5, so I packed my journalism degree into my suitcase to travel the world and find a way to make money at the same time. I now call London home, although I still travel whenever I can. I hope to inspire you to be your own boss, live life and see the world.
