31 Mar Video: Kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland

This is a video of me kissing the Blarney Stone on my Paddywagon tour of Ireland. By kissing the stone you are supposed to get the gift of the gab, although I’m a bit sceptical about the results of this one!

Before we went to the Blarney Stone, I envisaged just kissing some boulder on the ground or something. No big deal.

But to Kiss the Blarney Stone you have to LIE DOWN on your back, hold on to some railings, and edge yourself over a HUGE gap metres above the ground. Now I don’t think this is something I’ve mentioned before, but I’m a little afraid of heights! It was nothing to worry about though, as there was someone holding onto me and I couldn’t see the ground anyway because I was on my back.

Blarney Castle

The Blarney Stone is a block of stone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle in Blarney, Ireland. Tourists come from all over the world to kiss the stone and receive the gift of eloquence, although no-one knows the exact story of the stone’s origin.

There’s more to see here than just kissing the Blarney Stone mind you- it’s also worth exploring the beautiful gardens surrounding the castle.

The great thing about the Paddywagon Tour is that entry to Blarney Castle is included, so the driver handed us our tickets and we were able to go straight in! Ordinarily it is €12 entry for an adult, and the Castle is privately owned too, so someone’s making a lot of money out of it!

Hi I'm Victoria, a British girl from Manchester. After graduating from university I decided there was more to life than the hours between 9 and 5, so I packed my journalism degree into my suitcase to travel the world and find a way to make money at the same time. I now call London home, although I still travel whenever I can. I hope to inspire you to be your own boss, live life and see the world.
