Review: MGM Grand King Las Vegas

During my time in Las Vegas I had the opportunity to stay for two nights in one of the new MGM Grand King rooms at the MGM Grand.

To say the MGM Grand is huge would be an understatement. The place is more like a City within a City! As I walked into the lobby towards the iconic golden lion, I instantly felt the energy and buzz surrounding this hotel. There were people everywhere.

I’ve stayed in a few hotels in Las Vegas, but this one has an atmosphere like no other- everything about the MGM screams maximum Vegas. It’s currently the third largest hotel in the world, and the largest hotel resort complex in the United States.

To walk from my room to the pool was a bit of a hike, but there was so much going on that I enjoyed walking around and taking it all in. If you want to come to Vegas and just stay in your hotel, then the MGM Grand has everything you would need- restaurants, nightclubs, food courts, shops, shows, pools…you name it this hotel has it. I liked being able to walk downstairs, get my morning Starbucks and a sandwich from ‘whichcraft, then head to the pool.

Below is a picture of the new refurbished MGM Grand King room I stayed in. The bed was super comfy.

My favourite thing about the room was the view of the Las Vegas strip from my bedroom window! I could look at this view all day, but when I was ready to take a nap I could operate the automatic blackout shade and sheer system at the touch of a button.

The ultra-modern MGM Grand King had lots of cool features- a media hub for connecting all my electronic devices, a 40″ HD TV, a mini bar, a desk and executive chair, a wardrobe with clothes hangers, plus a laptop-sized safe. The marble bathroom was chic and great for getting ready, with a large backlit vanity mirror, decent-sized bathtub and powerful shower. I also liked the fact they supplied a proper hairdryer instead of one of those little things attached to the wall! Included in the daily resort fee is Wi-Fi Internet access.

Probably the best reason for staying at the MGM Grand is the swimming pools. A lot of the hotel swimming pools in Las Vegas are rather small, but the pool complex in the MGM Grand is enormous, just like the hotel. It consists of five swimming pools, three hot tubs, a lazy river and a waterfall, so there are always plenty of sun loungers to go around!

On the weekend I had the opportunity to go to one of Vegas’ best pool parties- Wet Republic. Bob Sinclair was playing at the Ultra Pool, and I have never seen so many people in one swimming pool in my life! It felt so good to have the sun on my skin with a drink in hand, dancing and splashing around in the water!

I received a media rate at the MGM Grand, but all opinions are my own.

BestofVegas. Best Shows. Best Hotels. Best Prices.
