Countries & Places

Travelling Now

Indonesia- I’m on a one-way ticket to Indo.

Previous Trips I’ve Blogged About

Australia- I bused it up the East Coast from Sydney to Cairns. I flew to Alice Springs to visit Uluru and then took a flight to Melbourne to do the Great Ocean Road.  I braved the Dingoes on Fraser Island, survived a cyclone in the Whitsundays and slept under the stars at Ayers Rock. I went to North Island, New Zealand, to do a spot of fruit picking and failed miserably.

Places I’ve Been

Paris- On a three day trip to Paris with my best friend Ellie, we managed to somehow spend one of those days on a train which we thought was taking us to the Tour Eiffel, when in fact we were in the middle of the French countryside. We spontaneously decided to go to the Moulin Rouge and after drinking a bottle of champagne, bought everything in the souvenir shop.

Paris

Portugal- Ellie introduced me to Portugal when I was at uni and I immediately fell in love with Lagos. Lagos is filled with Ozzies, I think there are more Ozzies there than in Australia. It’s the best place to party in Europe and once you go you are sure to never leave.

Portugal

Greece & Turkey- Steve and I did some island hopping around the Cyclades but somehow we always ended up back in Santorini (not through choice), where ‘vacation shirts’ are plentiful. Athens-Santorini-Ios-Santorini-Kos-Bodrum-Kos-Santorini-Paros-Mykonos….

Santorini

Thailand- I really liked the grimy bustling city of Bangkok, particularly travelling by the river boat and visiting the food markets. I visited the Grand Palace and more Buddahs than I can count but my favourite part was Dusit Park, which is a quiet green oasis in the middle of it all and contains the beautiful wooden palace, Vimanmek Mansion. I also went to the island of Koh Samui, where the wet season came early and it poured with rain every day!!

Thailand

Tunisia- So I rode a camel in the Sahara desert, saw an oasis, hopped on the Indiana Jones Lizard train and bought jewellery in a Souk, but a memory that will always stick in my mind is this man- Banana Man. Look at the effort he put into his hat- I would definitely have won the school Easter Bonnet parade with that monstrocity. He would walk around every day with that chamelion shouting Bananes Bananes Bananes- half price nice! No wonder I bought bananas from him.
