Portugal is one of my favourite countries in the world, so it didn’t take much convincing to get me to head over to Porto for the TBU Porto Travel Bloggers Conference! I’ve been trying to count the amount of times I’ve been to Portugal, but I’m losing track. Including this summer’s trip to TBU Porto, [...]
My first visit to the Algarve was back in 2007 and I instantly fell in love with the place. I’ve been back many, many times in the last few years, and there’s clearly something that keeps drawing me back. To me the Algarve has some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. You won’t find [...]
To get from Lagos in Portugal to Seville in Spain you need to take the bus. You can purchase tickets from the bus station which is opposite the marina, or online on the Rede Expressos website. You can’t buy tickets on-board, so make sure you buy them a day or so in advance or give yourself [...]
The Living Lounge Hostel in Lisbon is probably the most luxurious hostel I’ve ever seen. Located on Rua do Crucifixo, slap bang in the centre of town, Living Lounge is like staying in a boutique hotel as opposed to a hostel. In fact all the hostels in Lisbon are of a high standard, but this [...]
It’s a while since I was at Disneyland, but I certainly felt like I’d entered a magical kingdom when I arrived in Sintra. Sintra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Portugal; home to 19th century Romantic architecture, richly coloured palaces, mansions, castles and beautiful parks. It has been the summer residence for Portuguese kings [...]
I’m going to put it out there…I really do think that the hostels in Portugal are the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. At least, from the countries I’ve been to so far, they are the best I’ve seen. Take your ordinary perceptions of hostels and chuck them out of the window, because Portuguese [...]
I’ve visited Portugal many a time, but sadly never made it to Porto. I unfortunately got stuck in the Lagos partying trap and only ever made it to Lisbon on my FIFTH visit to Portugal. If you’ve ever been to Lagos you’ll understand what I’m talking about…it really is a black hole. Located in the [...]
Lagos is a small town in the Algarve on the south coast of Portugal. For backpackers it is a major stop on the Europe backpacker trail and every year Van Tour Europe arrives for a week of debauchery. Lagos is a major party town and activities mostly centre around bars, drinking and booze-fuelled antics. If [...]
Lisbon Lisbon Lisbon. I never thought you would be so beautiful. Every time I’ve been to Lagos I’ve barely even made it outside the famous walls. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve heard someone say after a full season of Lagos “There’s walls around this town?”. Yes, yes, there is. And you’ve not made it outside of them.
I’ve been to Sagres and a few surfing beaches, Cape St.Vincent, Praia da Luz, Salema, Burgau and Budens, but apart from the Algarve I had never made it up to Portugal’s capital of Lisbon. I don’t know what I was expecting, but Lisbon pleasantly surprised me.
