Capture the Colour

Ava Apollo from Be My Travel Muse nominated me for the Capture the Colour Competition with TravelSupermarket.com, and here’s my entry!

The task: Publish a blog post with a photo that captures each of the following 5 colours - Blue, Green, Yellow, White and Red.

The prize: There is a £2,000 cash prize to spend on travelling and 5x iPads up for grabs!

I love taking photos of colourful things on my travels, so I trawled through my albums and this is what I came up with!

Green

I just happened to be in the right place at the right time for this shot. My friend Lindsay took me to see Multnomah Falls in Oregon, and we were hiking up to the top when we saw a sign saying the trail was partly closed because of a landslide. We turned around and it started to rain…so we found ourselves at the end of the rainbow!

 

Blue

I’ve never seen water bluer than the water in Montenegro. This was taken from the island of Sveti Stefan on the Budva Riviera. Montenegro surprised me in every way- the water is so sparkly it looks as if fairy dust was sprinkled all over it!

Yellow

This is the Pena Palace which sits high up on a hill in Sintra, Portugal. I took a day trip from Lisbon to Sintra, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been the summer residence for Portugese kings and aristocracy for hundreds of years. Home to 19th century Romantic architecture, brightly coloured palaces, mansions, castles and parks- Sintra is like something out of a fairytale. The Pena Palace is a great example of Romanticism in architecture and has beautiful yellow domes and walls.

Red

This is the Red Bridge in Wroclaw, Poland. I love the fact that when I shot this, a woman on a red bike with red hair cycled across it! Pure fluke.

White

On my trip around Slovenia I visited the Lipica Stud Farm, where they breed these beautiful white Lipizzaner horses. To me they look so ethereal and graceful.

    I love your yellow photo. Yellow’s not my favourite colour but the yellow pictures I’ve seen in this competition are my favourites!
