I’m currently on a two-month long road around the USA, and recently stopped in Chicago aka The Windy City!
My favourite thing to do in Chicago was to simply stand and marvel at The Bean. The Bean is exactly as its name suggests- a giant jelly bean structure in the city centre near Millennium Park. It’s actually called “Cloud Gate” and was created by Indian-born British artist Anish Kapoor. This sculpture is made up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together, and there are no visible seams!
What’s so great about a giant jelly bean you may ask? Well this giant bean offers the most incredible distorted reflections of the Chicago skyline, and it’s really fun to take quirky photos of yourself reflected in the polished surface.
It’s very hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t seen it, so I shot a video of The Bean to give you an idea. I could stand and stare at this thing all day! Of all the things to do in Chicago, this is the one!

I didn’t know that existed. Very cool!
It’s so cool!! And the main attraction in Chicago, except I had no idea either!
