I had one night to kill in Santorini and it was peak season in the middle of August, so I was looking for somewhere reasonably priced to stay before I caught my flight the next day. At €20 for a dorm bed, Sea Wave Studios at Perissa Beach was value for money compared to some of the accommodation available on the Internet.
They didn’t offer a free transfer from the ferry port, but for 5 euros I could pay for a transfer from the Holiday Tours travel agency at the port. I didn’t have to wait long for a transfer and it was much more convenient than taking the bus.
Sea Wave studios is located in Perissa, in a fantastic location close to the beautiful black sand beach and the main street where you’ll find restaurants a couple of supermarkets, ATMS etc. It’s also away from the main strip though, so you don’t get any noise at night!
There is a swimming pool outside with sun loungers so if you don’t feel like hitting the beach, you can just chill out by the pool. It’s a family run place and the daughter on reception was extremely friendly and helpful.
The 6-bed dorm room was large and spacious, with no-bunk beds, which made a nice change! It was very clean and there was air conditioning, so you can definitely get a good sleep at night. The dorm also had a gas cooker, a sink, and a fridge so you could cook something to eat if you chose not to go out for dinner. The bathroom was en-suite and there was hot running water (which I haven’t always experienced on Santorini!).
Last but not least, the Wi-Fi was good and I could pick up the signal in the room, which is always a plus because I get annoyed having to go into the reception area to use it.
